School Support
Newcastle Education Business Partnership's support for schools aims to recognise and build on the good practice of
work-related learning that already exists in Newcastle schools.
Whole School Support ensures that the work of the EBP complements and supports the school curriculum, making the forming of business links easier by prioritising into a three year action plan. A named EBP project manager will be the school's main co-ordinator for whole school support.
Business Support
Newcastle Education Business Partnership offers a range of Services to Businesses interested in developing their links with schools. One easy way in which business can develop partnerships is to nominate employees to become Business Ambassadors. However Newcastle EBP can also offer a free personal service to businesses to develop policies for working with education, plan appropriate activities that will benefit you as well as pupils and identify schools best placed to work with your business.
There are a range of benefits that can accrue by business involvement in education:
Publicity
advertising the company and its products
Licence to operate
being seen as a good employer in the community
Employee development and training
screening potential recruits
Professional Development
Many of our projects and activities involve and element of training.
This can develop interpersonal skills and confidence (e.g. communication, presentation, dealing with challenging situations, etc.). Companies and their staff will benefit from links with education. We have found that Business Ambassadors have gained in confidence and are able to promote a more positive attitude about the role of their business in the community, as well as gaining a useful insight into the world of education through personal contact with schools and pupils.
Businesses offering Teacher Placements can help teachers to think laterally and be innovative in their approaches to teaching and learning, promoting the use of good practice and quality systems. This is a positive way to develop a future workforce to match the requirements of business and industry.

Alternative Curriculum
Newcastle EBP currently runs two projects that involve practical activities and problem solving exercises for vocationally minded young people. These projects support young people, develop their aspirations and help them get the most from their education and training:
Enterprise
The world of work is changing fast and young people seeking work in the future are likely to need to be more flexible and entrepreneurial in their attitudes. These attitudes and skills are more likely to be developed through involvement in enterprise activites. Newcastle EBP offers a number of enterprise projects.
Employability
Newcastle EBP offers a range of employability projects at both primary and secondary level, together with a consultancy service to assist schools to develop a work-related curriculum. Employability is about helping all youg people to develop the skills, qualities and attitudes they will need in preparation for when they enter the world of work. Employability qualities begin to develop at nursery level and continue to be built upon through primary and secondary schooling.
The future of business depends upon the ability to be able to recruit skilled, well-educated and committed young people and employers from around Tyneside have identified key skills they require from their workforces.
