Eldon Square Shopping Centre attracts 25 million people a year and is the focal point for shoppers in the North East.
The major development projects currently being undertaken will ensure Eldon Square continues to offer modern retail space. It will also bring an exciting opportunity for new retailers to secure a prime location in one of the Uk’s top ten shopping centres.
This major redevelopment provides a living context for teaching and learning in the National Curriculum.
Capital Shopping Centres, Newcastle EBP and local Secondary Schools are already working in partnership to support young people studying retail qualifications through the Retail Gold Project. Development Gold provides another valuable resource for teachers and young people in our region.
Teachers from St Mary’s School, Lord Lawson of Beamish, Hill Top Special School and South Street Primary Schools spent time out of school learning about the redevelopment, designing and writing a series of classroom materials for use in the National Curriculum.
This CD Rom has been produced to provide information and resources to be used by teachers and students. There are specific links with Key Stage 4 Business Studies, and Geography and wider ranging links with Primary and Special Education teaching.
The CD links with other associated websites, particularly the Eldon Square site, which holds more pictures, development updates and letting information. This information is updated regularly ensuring any resources that are still in progress at the time of production, remain
Over 5000 employers have been involved in the development of the Diplomas ensuring that the qualifications will equip students with the attributes and skills most necessary to progress successfully into employment or university.
